Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2)
Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is a gas that is commonly formed in the burning of coal and oil, as well as in many manufacturing industries and food processing. While NO2 is colourless, it does emit a very distinctive odour that should be recognisable to workers as a threat.
Overexposure to nitrogen dioxide can cause respiratory issues including wheezing, coughing, colds, flu and bronchitis. It can decrease lung functionality, which may cause long-term health issues for workers. The use of an appropriate gas detector is advised to ensure that workers aren’t exposed to dangerous levels – take a look through our generous selection of NO2 gas detectors to find the right model for you.
