Description
This Harness training and working at height awareness course is designed for individuals who need to work at height and utilise a safety harness. Participants will gain knowledge of various types of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety lanyards, helmets, connectors, and appropriate anchor systems. The Harness training and working at height awareness course will also cover the critical process of conducting pre-use safety checks on this equipment. Falls from height represent one of the leading causes of workplace fatalities and serious injuries, accounting for over a quarter of all workplace deaths.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of The Working at Height Regulations 2005. They will also learn how to apply safe working practices across different methods, including work restraint, work positioning, and fall arrest systems.
The training program blends theoretical instruction with practical, hands-on learning to ensure that participants are fully prepared for their assessment. Throughout the course, delegates will engage with printed materials, observe practical demonstrations, and participate in interactive training sessions. All instruction is designed and delivered in accordance with BS 8454:2006, the code of practice for training and education in work at height and rescue.
To complete the course, participants must pass a multiple-choice theory exam, achieving a minimum score of 80%, which requires answering at least 16 out of 20 questions correctly. Additionally, the trainer will evaluate each participant’s competence in the pre-use inspection, proper fitting of a safety harness, and the correct use of fall protection equipment. This comprehensive approach ensures that all delegates are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to work safely at height, significantly reducing the risk of accidents and injuries in the workplace.
