iTrans2 Universal transmitter – Versatile Detection Capabilities with a Single Head
The iTrans2 Universal transmitter is designed to provide unparalleled flexibility and performance. Utilising an advanced electronics platform, it offers the unique ability to deliver either one or two points of detection from a single head, optimising both functionality and cost-effectiveness. This dual-detection capability is ideal for maximising safety while minimizing installation expenses. Additionally, the iTrans2 supports the optional HART Communication Protocol, allowing for remote diagnostics, setup, and calibration. This is achieved by superimposing a high-frequency current on the industry-standard 4-20mA analog signal, enabling seamless communication and control.
Smart Sensor Technology, Enhanced Security, and Fault Protection
The iTrans2 detector is engineered to detect various combinations of gases tailored to specific environmental needs. It leverages our industry-leading “smart” infrared gas sensor technology, known for its reliability and accuracy. This detector is equipped with several safety features, including automatic sensor recognition, which ensures that the correct sensor is always in use, access code security to prevent unauthorized adjustments, and protection against zero and calibration faults, ensuring consistent and reliable operation. These components are housed within a robust, explosion-proof aluminium or stainless steel casing, making it suitable for hazardous locations.
The microprocessor-controlled transmitters within the iTrans2 can function independently or be integrated into a multi-point system configuration. The infrared sensor excels in detecting explosive gases like methane, butane, propane, ethylene, and hexane, particularly in harsh environments where catalytic sensors might fail due to the presence of sensor poisons. The iTrans2 is also configurable with sensors for specific applications, including a 0-100% volume methane infrared sensor for biogas detection and CO2 infrared sensors with ranges from 0.5% to 100% volume.
Stand-Alone Functionality(*)
For enhanced operational flexibility, the iTrans2 can be equipped with optional on-board relays, enabling it to operate autonomously. This feature allows the detector to trigger alarms, horns, or fans, and even shut down systems independently, without requiring a connection to a central control panel. This makes it an ideal solution for applications where wiring back to a control panel is impractical.
